FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why take a private tour?
Lots of reasons! Our guide will be dedicated to your party and the tour will be bespoke to your needs. Our minivan is very comfy and can take you to places tour coaches can’t fit and quicker. You will also have more time with your guide - our style is very much relaxed and we want you to feel at home.
What type of vehicle will I be travelling in?
Our minivan seats seven passengers very comfortably (eight at a squeeze!). It's has all the mod cons and is a lovely eco-friendly hybrid. For more info, check out our About Us page.
How much does it cost?
The typical cost for per day is £550 which includes the tour guide/driver, insurance and our vehicle which carries up to 8 passengers (7 in full comfort). For multiday tours, an additional £150 will be charged per overnight to cover driver's expenses and accommodation. Please check out our Booking page for more details on what is and isn't included.
Can you arrange my accommodation during the tour?
As we are a tour company and not an travel operator, we cannot directly book your accommodation for you. However, we will make it super easy by providing expert guidance and work with you to ensure that you are doing the right thing. Only a few clicks and you will be done (with the added bonus of no extra agents fees on accommodation). It is important to note that accommodation in Scotland often gets booked out in the summer months, especially July and August, and in particular on the Isle of Skye. The earlier you can book the better to ensure you get to stay where you would like.
Where can I start and finish my tour?
We are based near Loch Lomond, not far from Glasgow, but we can pick up from anywhere across central Scotland including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Gourock and Stirling.
Do you accept children on tour?
We can carry children aged 5 and up no problem, but please highlight any under 14s in your booking so we can arrange suitable car seats in line with UK law.
Can I request specific locations to visit during my tour?
Yes- Your Tour, Your Way! If there is something you have your heart set on, please speak with us before arrival to see how this can be accommodated on your tour.
How long is each day of touring?
A standard day is a maximum of nine hours to make sure your fab guide is in tip top form but this is flexible based on where you are visiting, what you want to do and of course the lovely Scottish weather. Should you require a longer day, speak with us upfront to arrange so this can be factored into your final quote.
Where do we get food on tour?
This is really up to you and will depend on your tastes and budget - anything from picnics to 5 star dinning can be arranged. Your guide will be happy to provide recommendations and assistance with booking if you need it.
What will the weather be like?
Scotland is renowned for its rather changeable weather but as Billy Connolly said "there is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes....". Generally, temperature-wise, the months from May to September are milder but whether it will be sunny or wet is anyone's guess. The winter can get quite fierce but some of the best tours we have had have been in the winter snows. Our mantra is 'hope for the best and prepare for the worst' so we recommend bringing wet weather gear, warm clothes and good sturdy shoes, even in the summer. The best thing to do is embrace whatever comes your way and have fun - the true Scottish experience!
What clothes should I wear?
We want you to enjoy the best of Scotland, much of which involves being outdoors. It is recommended that you bring clothes for all weathers (see above!) and also shoes suitable for walking off-tarmac.
What luggage should I bring?
Although our vehicle does have a good amount of luggage space, if we are carrying 7 passengers and they all bring enormous cases there might be an issue! We recommend that for a fuller bus passengers try to carry a maximum of 15kg of luggage to ensure we don't need to leave anyone behind. If you think this may be an issue for your party, please get in touch to chat. Obviously, if there is only two or three passengers, we can accommodate bigger cases and the kitchen sink can be brought.
Will I be contactable on tour?
Mobile phones now work in most areas across Scotland but can be patchy in remote highland areas. WIFI is now available at most accommodation stops and eateries; however, the coverage and speed may not be what you are used to so please don't rely on being 100% connected - welcome to the Highlands!
What language is the tour in?
All tours are conducted in English.
Can I bring pets?
If you want to bring your furry friend, chat to us to see what we can do. Please bear in mind that not all accommodation providers are pet friendly and you may be limited on where you can stay.
What insurance do you have?
We offer comprehensive Public Liability insurance and commercial vehicle insurance on every tour.
Can you accommodate special needs?
Speak to us and we will try out very best to accommodate your needs where possible.
